Logan Lake Blazer Teams

U7

The Initiation level is for boys and girls who are 5 or 6 year's old (Grades K-1). This program introduces basic hockey skill development and coordination, and seeks to build a love for the game. Players do not have to know how to skate to sign up. The program focuses on:

  • Skating forward and backward
  • Stopping, starting, turning
  • Puck handling
  • Basic hockey rules
  • Building friendships and learning teamwork skills
  • Recreational fun games
  • Benefits of Blazers Hockey

The season begins in October and ends in early March. Initiation players will usually have 1-2 practices per week with games beginning later in the season. Home games are played at the arena in Logan Lake and away games are within the Thompson-Nicola region.

U9

The Novice level is for boys and girls 7 or 8 year's old (Grades 2-3).This next level is still designed for beginners and builds on the basic hockey skills they learned in Initiation. The program is progressive in nature and it is designed to build love for the game, personal and team skills, knowledge of hockey and coordination. Players do not have to know how to skate to sign up. The program focuses on:

  • Skating forward and backward, stopping starting, turning
  • Puck handling
  • Shooting and passing
  • Basic hockey rules
  • Basic hockey strategy
  • Recreational fun games
  • Building friendships and learning teamwork skills
  • Benefits of Blazers Hockey
  • Player does not have to know how to skate
  • Player is not required to have completed Initiation

The season begins in September and ends in early March. Novices will usually 2 practices per week with games beginning later in the season. Home games are played at the arena in Logan Lake and away games are within the Thompson-Nicola region.

U11

The Atom level is for boys and girls who are 9 or 10 year's old (Grades 4-5). Atom is designed to build basic hockey skills and is progressively planned by coaches to move players from basic to competitive play. As part of the transition from the Novice level, Atom teams start playing full ice and keep score during games. The Atom division is also the beginning of tiered teams from the competitive "rep" to house levels. Logan Lake does not currently offer competitive rep teams.

The season begins in September and ends in early March after a round of playoffs. Atom players will usually have 1-2 practices per week followed by weekly games as scheduled throughout the season. Teams play home games at the arena in Logan Lake and away games usually within the Thompson-Nicola region. As well, teams will often arrange to play several tournaments throughout in the year.

The program focuses on:

  • Advanced skating skills, including speed, endurance, and edge control
  • Puck handling
  • Shooting and passing
  • Understanding of hockey rules
  • Competitive hockey strategies
  • Fitness
  • Building friendships and teamwork skills
  • Benefits of Blazers Hockey

Beginners or players new to hockey can still join at this level.

U13

The Peewee level is for boys and girls 11 or 12 year's old (Grades 6-7). It is designed to build hockey skills and be progressive in development. This level caters to players who want to play recreationally and competitively. Logan Lake does not currently offer competitive rep teams.

The season begins in September and ends in early March after a round of playoffs. PeeWees will usually have 1-2 practices per week followed by games as scheduled throughout the season.Teams play home games at the arena in Logan Lake and away games usually within the Thompson-Nicola region. As well, teams will often arrange to play several tournaments throughout in the year.

The program focuses on:

  • Advanced skating skills, including speed, endurance, and edge control
  • Puck handling
  • Shooting and passing
  • Understanding of hockey rules
  • Competitive hockey strategies and plays
  • Fitness: strength and conditioning
  • Building friendships and teamwork skills

U15

The Bantam level is for boys and girls 13 or 14 year's old (Grades 8-9). It is designed to progressively improve personal and team hockey skills for early teen boys and girls. This level caters to players who want to play recreationally and competitively. Logan Lake does not currently offer competitive rep teams.

The season begins in September and ends in early March after a round of playoffs. Bantam players will usually have 1-2 practices per week followed by games as scheduled throughout the season. Teams play home games at the arena in Logan Lake and away games usually within the Thompson-Nicola region. As well, teams will often arrange to play several tournaments throughout in the year.
